I am 32 years old and currently working and residing in Italy with my wife and a 7 year-old son.
I decided to leave Philippines as young as 19 years old. I was on my 3rd year college then taking Bachelor of Science in Travel Management at Holy Angel University in Angeles City. Poverty pushed me to interrupt my studies and found job to sustain myself and my family. Fortunately, I was hired as a receptionist after 2 years of working as a domestic helper here in Italy and I am continuing doing the same job now. I am not enrolled at the University of the Philippines Open University if not for the advice I got from some resource persons of a certificate course program named Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship. I joined the program when I was the incumbent president of our cultural association here in the year 2010.
Looking forward for reaching my goals when I was a child, those are aiming a bachelor’s degree and being financially stable as these are the main reasons of leaving the Philippines at the back of my shoulder. Sometimes I say to myself, now I know why God did not let me finish my studies before, aside from wanting me to accomplish a mission for my family prior to my studies, he wanted me to pursue my studies at the UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES!
